Skillinge

How long Skillinge has been a fishing village you do not know, but probably even since the migration period 400-XNUM years AD. The name Skiellinge can be derived from the form Skedhlinge, where spoon (s), eg. With the meaning of the limit, can refer to the limitation of society in the east and west by two streams.

The fishing village lives all year round, there is a lot to offer: restaurants, shipping trade, grocery store, preschool, retirement home, b & b, Skillinge theater and the Asparagus Garden - this is just a selection. Marina, the sea and magnificent nature within walking distance. Chalky white beaches within cycling distance.

Skilling is the fishing village where there is still a lot of circuits around the harbor. Here you will find shipyards, harbor hooks, boat club and shipping museum (read more about the museum here). The settlements in Skillinge are reminiscent of the old-fashioned shipping with large captain's yards, but also small houses in the narrow strait, apartment blocks and a number of newer villas in the southwest. Near the harbor is the newly built Jeppas meadow with exciting architecture.

Many artists live in Skillinge and the surrounding area, which attracts large numbers of visitors to the community, not least during Easter time. Bus connections to Simrishamn, Ystad and Hammenhög is available in Skillinge. The distance to Simrishamn is around a mile.

And you: You say you live of Skilling, on Brantevik, on Ahus, etc. It comes from the fact that the fishing villages from the beginning were temporary camps. You camped, lived at the camp, then pulled on when the fishing season was over. This expression has survived for centuries.
