Facts about Österlenbyn

Ramsosa is located just west of the Swamp Cross Tomelilla on the slopes down towards the little Trydeån, which opens into Fyleån in Fyledalen. The surroundings are hilly, but at the same time fertile, intensely cultivated. It is only in the south, on the other side of the Trydeån, that you see the forest, if we disregard the rather atypical spruce plantation that is located on the northern side of the city gate in the middle of the village.
The name Ramsåsa is believed to come from rafn, which means raven and the plural form of ridge. Already 1387 there is the name Ramsoesa as the name of the sugar has been recorded.

After the one-year 1812, not so many farms remained in the village, but still are part of the remaining active agricultural properties. The majority of the houses are located along the town street and stem from late 1800 numbers and early 1900 numbers, giving the village its archaic character.
Just north of the church one suspects that the buildings have been denser. Here are the two former schools and the old pub.

Nowadays the road goes between Tomelilla and Sjöbo north of Ramsåsa. When the railway Malmö-Simrishamn When the 1893 was laid, the railway tracks were pulled along Ramåsas southern village boundary.
North of the village is a collection of farms called Lilla Ramsåsa.
Just east of the village is a mill with surrounding buildings, Fåglasång, a very well preserved environment.

The proximity to magnificent Fyledalen with exceptional flora and fauna is a great asset for Ramsåsa, as well as the proximity to one of Europe's more well-known motorways for rallycross and motocross, Svampabanan, where very active Tomelilla Motor Club organizes many competitions annually, not often by the EM and World Championships status, which attracts thousands-headed audiences. Just south of Svampabanan lies the family park Tosselilla Sommarland. IN Tryde there is a free school, a church and the Tingvalla amusement park.
Very amicable is the amateur reunion society Ramslif, which every year usually sets up two rural games completely based on events from Ramsåsa's long history.
The distance to Tomelilla With service of all kinds, such as travel centers, municipal buildings, schools, retirement homes, Bo Ohlsson's supermarket etc. are a few kilometers.
