Facts about Österlenbyn
Many draw an equal sign between them Gyllebo and Östra Vemmerlöv, but it is better to call the village at the church for Ö. Vemmerlöv and the houses around Gyllebosjön for Gyllebo. On an islet in the beautiful bathing and fishing lake Gyllebosjön lies the ruins of an old medieval castle and the privately owned Gyllebo castle with associated riding facility.
The castle ruin is on private land, but the park is open on Sundays at. 10-12. In the forests that surround the lake, many people wander all year round and in winter when the ice bears bear, many are suitable for skating. South of the lake and right up to the old railway station Gyllebo lake (where you can also drive the dressin!) There is a popular area with leisure buildings, but also here and there year-round houses.
There is much forest, both deciduous forest and mixed forest north of Ö. Vemmerlöv. In and around the village there is a whole series of viable companies of various kinds. The nearest major city with service like school and business is Gärsnäs, a half mile to the southwest, but it is close to Simrishamn too, barely miles. Bus connection north towards Rörum and east towards Simrishamn is in the village. The distance to the gourmet corner and the hotel in Karlaby, Karlaby inn, is a couple of kilometers.
Just outside the village, along the road towards Karlaby, is Österlen's aviation museum. A popular cafe in the village is Kin. Maybe a bio experience at Gylleboverken?
