The caves and Kared

The caves and Kared
Written by Annika Olsson / 26 January, 2019

This is the name that I often hear my dear husband talk about when we are in Kivik. Names that I don't really know if they are real or it's the natives themselves baptized the places to. Names that were used when Stefan was a little jaded. Maybe it's even so, really, what do I know ...

An early morning when I was in Kivik I went out on that little strip of land outside the harbor. The landslip that Stefan says is called "Kared".

Johnny and I gently pawed out on the little ice-covered bridge. The iron bridge as it is called. Out at Kared I saw how all the birds terrified took to the flight and took their flight to Karakås instead.

The water you pass when you walk on the Iron Bridge is called Hölen, and is the old inlet to Kivik's harbor.

Out there on the small island it is so beautiful I think.

When I enjoyed both Hölen and Kared I walked past the "Sweden House" (my own name) away to beautiful SOLEVI.

It's all good fun with old names.

Quote of the day:

The bad news is that time flies, the good news, you are the pilot.

Have a nice day.

Behind the clouds the sky is always blue.

11 September 2019

Yes, that phrase "that the sky is always blue behind the clouds", it became so clear that night when Johnny and my dog walked the Knäbäckshusen beach.

When I drove away from home, a happy sun beamed over Gyllebo. But already in Rarar the clouds became sealed.

Over Rörum's church and over Mandelmann's small lonely tree, the thick, gray clouds towered menacingly.

-we can handle us dry-shod, I thought to myself, as I walked down the hill towards the sea ...

But I got…

We had nothing more than to get down on the beach until a heavy rain was upon us. The colors faded and the view over Vik became quite foggy. So beautiful in its own little way. I pulled the hoodie over my head while Johnny seemed to enjoy full mugs.

In the wet sand jumped a small poor injured swallow. For a moment I thought about how I could make its suffering short ... But no, I simply couldn't take the life of the poor animal.

Little sadly we walked on in the lukewarm rain. In the sky, a faint rainbow had begun to appear.

Arriving at the mouth of Rörumsbäcken, the rain began to slow down slightly. Johnny panted on by my side, happy to have another little tour.

Quote of the day:

All tears are not sad, and all smiles are not happy.

But a smile can never ever hurt.

My red hibiscus.

10 September 2019

I have a red hibiscus that I got from my weird godmother. This year, it is breaking all records.

It grows lushly away at my little orange. In a year or so, I might have to google cropping ... if it doesn't get too big.

It is lovely and full of buds!

It is not only in my garden that it grows and thrives. In the past, I was able to take a look at Gyllebo's little horse jump track when I went on my morning walks. It is no longer possible. Now both the bookcase has grown thick and strong and the book hedge inside the fence has become high and dense. Now you can only imagine that there are horses there, when you hear them frozen with delight.

Opposite the bathing place you can also talk about plant power. Imagine how much the small corn barley grows in just one summer.

I wonder if anyone has poured extra nutrition into the water here in Gyllebo… because then it may not be so strange that my own waist size has increased a little over the summer.

No, I'm not worried about a kilo up or down. It should be good to live.

Quote of the day:

I have a perfect body! I just fit in it!

In my youth, I worried too much about what my body looked like. Life has taught me to care about how the body feels.

Well done dear.

The last drops of summer.

9 September 2019

After supper, I took my bike on a little ride. Down by the lake I stopped for a while. It is clearly visible how the darkness is creeping, earlier and earlier for each evening.

The youth of the area took the opportunity to suck the last drops of this year's summer this fine evening.

The beautiful girls may have taken the last dip of the summer from the dock. A little away the tame duck family sat and made their feathers beautiful.

It was splashed both by thugs and by ducks in the lukewarm water. The evening felt almost magical.

Then they caught sight of me, and came rocking against me ... the ends thus ... eager for biscuits and other sweets.

When I got home, it was inviting in the little guest house. I thought for a while about my daughter far away in Alabama. It always hit my heart ... It takes a long time for her to come home again, but as soon as time goes on, it probably just says "Phåffff" then she is home again.

Her cat, Felix, often sits on the veranda and even looks at the little guesthouse. He probably longs too ... We make sure "her house" is ready whenever she pleases to come home.

Quote of the day:

Some people want a big classy villa, an expensive nice car and lots of money. Others just want a little cabin in the woods far away from these people.

We are all different. With different goals and dreams. For me, it fits best with a small house in Gyllebo on Österlen.

Eastern Lending in the big city.

8 September 2019

Last weekend me and my dear friend waved goodbye to our Österlen and steered the cuddle to our beautiful capital, Stockholm.

With the bags packed with almost only running clothes, we jumped on the train in Simrishamn. We were ready to take care of our capital and 2019 years edition of the girl mile.

We checked in at my favorite hotel Frey. A hotel that deserves to get its own little blog post later.

"Yes, yes ... yes, we are not so inexperienced," Petra said to a slightly snotty man, who kindly showed us how to make the elevator move, as we were going up to our hotel room.

He looked at us a little big-eyed, and probably didn't understand a word of what we, two happy sconces, were really babbling about. But up we came and could install ourselves in our room.

After walking many kilometers in a lovely Stockholm weather, we were finally ready for this year's girl mile.

Maybe it was the hottest and sultry day of the year? It was so hot that we had to load for a while in the shade of a tree. There under the tree we met an experienced lady. We chatted with her for a while and could soon understand that she was a used runner for many years. But that day, she had only come to cheer on a friend, she said.

The starting shot went and it became a heavy mile for me out on Gärdet. Maybe it was the suites after my cold, the "sciatica" in my legs or it was simply the heat that made it somewhat more difficult than usual. Suddenly I heard a voice in the audience ... "Hello number 14568, hello Österlen" .... And think what some peppy words can make a big difference! Thank you unknown woman who gave me some extra strength.

Both me and Petra got to the finish, cruelly satisfied with both of us ourselves.

The next day we jumped on the train again and rushed back down to Skåne and to our dear Österlen.

Nothing is as wonderful as "cum heaven" ... "heaven in Österlen again!

Quote of the day:

Life begins where your safety zone ends.

For us, more running training awaits before the next dreamy goal will be fulfilled ... If you dare not test then you can never succeed.

Have them nice and hug.

We are here again.

7 September 2019

It's September and the summer is starting to slow down in the fall. This means that finally I and the dogs can go to the beach together again.

It is so wonderful to take a morning or evening stroll with the wind swirling around your ears and the sound of scales.

To slowly roam on a deserted beach and just enjoy it, it likes both me and my four-foot gang.

In the magazine I could read that a whole lot of garbage has been collected after the summer visitors, on just this nasty little beach strip. I can't understand ... Who forgets to take the garbage home? Feel the bubble so bad.

Even at Gyllebobadet it has been sad with all the garbage this summer. It's really boring.

We should all think a little less about what rights we have and instead focus on our obligations.

Quote of the day:

You have no obligation to be everyone else at all times. Stop and do what's best for you too.

Fixed the obligation to show consideration, you always have it. Some would need to be reminded of that ... a little more hard-hitting, I think!

Growth power of the year.

6 September 2019

Hello Hello.

Like last year, I have planted sunflower seeds and planted the common little plants in my garden.

Last year, I thought they broke all records. They became so tall and cabbage-grown. But this year, they have probably set a record again and become even higher and stronger.

Even from the red, chinky "Chinese sunflowers", I managed to get the seeds from last year. Now they also bloom so proud and beautiful.

It has probably been a really favorable year for the vegetation in Österlen. In my garden it has bloomed like never before.

It is a bit like the garden year now intends to end with a real color festival.

I love those late summer flowers that bravely remain like the captain of a sinking ship. Naturally, they resist autumn storms, rain and debris. Not until the frost comes are they ready to give up.

Quote of the day:

Doubt kills more dreams than failure will ever do.

Hug on you from me.

I caught a fox today ...

5 September 2019

Here in Gyllebo there are plenty of wildlife. Of course, with the forest on the knot, it is not that strange.

The deer here are almost as if they were tame and it is with a kind of hate love I see them chewing on bushes and plants in the garden.

But here are also other animals that are not always so fun to live with.

It was my neighbors who had got a whole unwanted family right at their land border. Of course, I wanted to help evacuate the uninvited guests.

What I caught in the trap was no fox at all. No, it was the gentleman of the forest - Mr. Grävling. Of course, the badger took the opportunity to go into the trap when my husband was away, so it became my job to find a new place for the lovely little animal.

Far away he went to one of the most beautiful forests in Österlen. Exactly, may be my own little secret ...

At a proper distance, I asked myself when he would be leaving in his new home. You never know, those where badgers can actually be violently cursed if they want badly.

But he quietly vented out of the box and disappeared into the bush. The only thing left of him was a terrible odor in my car. In fact, much worse than Johnny's.

When I turned back into my driveway in Gyllebo again, the little deer still remained unmoved and mumbled in the garden. Insanely, I thought to myself that I might build a little bigger trap for those deer too ...

Though no, I actually can't cope with smuggling animals like this and all over Österlen.

To be able to handle others, one must be able to handle oneself. When you can, you will realize that others no longer need to be handled.

So beautiful mornings.

4 September 2019

At this time of late summer, it is usually so wonderfully beautiful mornings.

Such dreamy sunny, humid foggy and wonderfully wonderful.

One morning when I was picking up my daughter from her night job, Österlen was still asleep. Not a man was more awake than me, my daughter and maybe the newspaper messenger.

In silence we drove back home to Gyllebo. My daughter to crawl into her bed and finally get to sleep. I like to lace up my boots and take a round in the woods.

Thank you Österlen for another wonderful day!

Quote of the day:

Sure it's funny when someone's laugh is more fun than the joke.

She, my daughter, she has a wonderful laugh that I love. Some people have it. Everyone really, as long as it's not ridiculous. More genuine laughter to the people thank you!

Everything can be done at Österlen.

3 September 2019

Here in Österlen there are several small cute cinemas. In Tomelilla there is Rio Bio. But also in Kivik and Borrby there are small cute cinemas.

Here in Gyllebo we also proudly boast our own cinema. A wonderfully charming little cinema. People's cinema, Gylleboverket, which is where there used to be a well-known demolition company.

One late summer evening I had booked tickets for myself and my family to go and see a movie at our own Gyllebobiograf.

When the day came, it turned out to be an unusually hot and hot summer day. I spent my morning on the beach.

On my way down to the beach, I enjoyed the cute little houses in Knäbäck's summer village. Since I've been there with friends one night, I always have to take that road down to the beach instead. It is so beautiful there.

All the houses are different and unique and so charming.

As the day went on, the beach was filled with people bathing.

Myself, I soon felt satisfied and rushed home in the afternoon.

Then came the evening and it was time for cinema. My family had suddenly had completely different plans, so I had to go there alone.

Going to the cinema myself is absolutely nothing that I have problems with. You should still be quiet and watch movies.

Here at Gylleboverket it is so cozy. You gather for a while outside, drink coffee and eat homemade. Perhaps this is Sweden's most charming little cinema?

The movie then? Well, I saw "The Escape from the GDR". A true story about two families trying to escape from East to West Germany in a homemade hot air balloon. So fantastic movie. And true! See it, if you have the opportunity, and prepare for excitement.

Quote of the day:

That a little on someone is my decision. To prove that I am right is the other person's decision.

Have a nice day. And if anyone is in the cinema in Gyllebo, the film will be shown here for ten weeks to about. Googla at Gylleboverket.

One evening on the pier.

2 September 2019

It was that night when my daughter and I went to Kronovall Castle to eat pizza in the cereal stall. When it turned out that there was closed for the season we drove on. After a little "if and only" in the form of packed eatery, we finally ended up in the best imaginable place…. Kivik harbor kiosk. you can always wear it !!

At the last moment before closing, we ordered our pizza. With the freshly baked delicacy in a cardboard box, we then paddled to the far end of the pier and sat down in the sunset.

So damn good. It's best to eat your pizza with your fingers. Sure it gets a little messy, but it is in this way pizza tastes the best.

When we saturated licked the last scrape from our fingers, we just sat there in the last light of day and enjoyed. So incredibly beautiful!

As we strolled back on the pier, I could see how some people were having a last night dip. The sea lay mirrorless and still.

Away at Buhres people sat outside enjoying themselves. Probably they were partying to some of the delights of the sea. It was a nice evening and a simple pizza on the pier was like pure feast for me.

Quote of the day:

Inside every person you are familiar with is a person you do not know.

A quote that can really be true… in many ways…

Have fun and hug from me.
