Facts about Österlenbyn
Beautiful landscape filled with life. Gröstorp has above all been placed on the map for sports reasons. The cohesion of the village around sport in general, but football and table tennis in particular, has been very good. Here is a great alpaca farm, horse breeding and a popular hostel: Bengtsson's Lodge.
From the village, a walking and cycling path leads in to Simrishamn and connects directly to both Korsavad primary school and Österlengymnasiet. North of the village, which mainly extends along the road towards Gladsax, Bäckhalladalen is a completely unique outdoor area with rare endangered animals and plants.
Much closer, in the west, you will find a smaller area with valuable natural pastures, Impan, which is largely a nature reserve and Natura 2000 area. In the western part of the area there is a marked rock wall with mines from ancient times. Here, the rare bat mouse winters barbell.
The buildings are of varying character, but no houses are erected before 1900. In the western part of the village there are a couple of divested farms still left. The distance to Simrishamn is by road a little over half mile and slightly shorter via the cycle path. Daily bus connections are available.
