Facts about Österlenbyn
Gislöv is a collection of houses and farms scattered around a four-way cross five kilometers southwest of Simrishamn and belongs to the smallest villages in Österlen. In Gislöv there is also a hotel with a fine restaurant, Karnelund, and Skåne's building care center. The nearest village with service is Skillinge, here are various shops, elderly care, restaurants and ship trade. A number of popular bed and breakfast facilities are available in the area for easy-to-understand reasons.
One kilometer southwest of the village is Gislöv's star, a beautiful deciduous forest lined with vast natural pastures. Here you enjoy during spring and early summer of dazzling flowering, inviting birdsong and the bells of the bell sprouts. In the middle of the forest is the popular amusement park Stjärnan, a facility which in its time attracted thousands of dance and pleasure enthusiasts to different kinds of events (The Who played here, for example, on the 22X 1966!). The nature around the village is dominated by fields, but here and where the mountain goes today and in several places around Gislöv one can see the traces of quarrying.
The four roads that meet in Gislöv lead to Simrishamn, Brantevik, Skillinge and Borrby. By bike you can easily get the scarcely two kilometers to the beach Gislövshammar. Skillinge we have three kilometers south and Simrishamn a half mile to the northwest. Bus connection south towards Skillinge and Ystad and north towards Simrishamn available.
