In Sweden we live an average of 82 years and 2 months - it is exactly 30.000 days that each shape our lives. However, during winter and spring 2020, Sweden and the world were affected by the covid-19 virus. Our society was basically shaken and there is still an insight into how fragile our lives and the community we aspire to are.
In the works 30.000 days - life a hike we go on a hike where questions about life and transience are put at the center. The walk goes through Skillinge - one of the beautiful fishing villages in the Österlen where people since ancient times lived with death as close neighbor, as the sea, fishing and shipping constantly harmed their victims. Rigorous communities where the widows were the fourth largest welfare group in the community.
Together with Tim Bishop, English sound designer, we create a 3-dimensional soundscape, which is very true to faith, surrounds the listener and makes us travel through time.
In the walk through the village, the sound mixes with the environment of the harbor and the streets, but also sometimes with the tactile experience of nature, the stones, the uncut grass and the sprouting plants.
It is a stage artwork for corona times: no one meets but we all get to meet ourselves and the basic essential questions: what is the meaning of life really? Is there anything to learn from history? Where do we put our hope, can we negotiate with death and how can we achieve peace?
HOW DOES IT HAPPEN:
Each person borrows players and headphones from us in the theater - of course, these are decinified. Then you get a map that you follow. From the map you then walk from point to point.
Following the walk there are a number of places where you stand still and listen. Each person wanders individually, at a safe distance from each other, with his or her headphones broadening the experience of the place and reality.
The hike takes place at a pleasant pace and takes about an hour.
