Facts about Österlenbyn
A genuine environment with an idyllic location. Brantevik is the fishing village where time really does not stand still, although its heyday occurred just over a hundred years ago. The village today ferries a collection of activities, especially summer time of various cultural events.
Riksbekanta are the Wednesday concerts "Jazz under the Stars" where the Swedish elite of jazz artists attract thousands of visitors. In the harbor is Branterögen, a rocky gathering point with live music for the food and the drink a couple of evenings a week in the summer. At the fishing village's closest surroundings there are cafés, farm hotels, hostels, bed and breakfast facilities, doctors and craftsmen of various kinds.
Just south of the village, at Hylkan lies the antique, gift shop and café Hylkegården and the cultural initiative Mårten Pers Källa with both art gallery and the theater scene. The settlement on the fishing village is very varied, from small lengths that meander closely down along the sea, row and chain houses, tenant-owned houses, to ultra-modern houses with distinctive environmental thinking. A genuine fire warden loves Vejakåsen village's bathing area.
Via a beautiful walking and cycling path you reach both Simrishamn five kilometers north and Skillinge about as far south. Very popular is the hiking area Grönet south of Brantevik down towards Gislövshammar. The nearest school is in Simrislund, four kilometers north. Please visit the village's website www.brantevik.se
