Facts about Österlenbyn
Two kilometers straight south of Ö. Tommarp lies the village of Bolshög, just over a stone's throw from the Nordic region's best preserved medieval castle, Glimmingehus. The church in the village is from the 1100 century and feels easy on its flat roof. For many, Bolshög is best known for the spectacular tomb just southeast of the church, Bols or Boels high.
A saying goes that here is King Boel buried while another claims that here lies the giant woman Boel and guards her buried treasure in a copper coffin. In the neighboring villages Ö. Tommarp and Vallby Nowadays, cultural life is both rich and broad. The closest town with school, restaurant and shops is Hammenhög, six kilometers west, but also Simrishamn when traveling by car in five minutes via national road 9.
